Clinical Trial
Symmedics is very pleased to be able to provide the results from the preliminary clinical trial on the Multiwell system.
The preliminary clinical trial was conducted in an independent setting at the Facial Rejuvenation Centre in Sydney, Australia by Dr Gary Cussell, Mrs Robyn Cussell RN and Ms Lisa Rush RN.
Summary of important trial information:
- 11 subjects took part: six females and five males
- All patients underwent eleven treatments over a two month period
- Females had treatments on buttocks and posterior thighs with evident cellulite
- Males had treatments on abdominal areas
- Treatments were from a combination of non-invasive devices from Multiwell
- Candidates did not change diet or exercise regimes during treatment
Results:
- Patients showed significant reduction in circumference or treated area.
- Male candidates had circumferential loss between 0.4% and 2.8% of total abdominal circumference. The lower abdominal area responded more favourably with losses up to 6.1cms.
- Female candidates lost between 0.2% and 2.2% of total buttock circumference and between 0.6% and 3% of total circumference. The upper thigh was the area of most favourable response with losses up to 3.2 cm.
- A corresponding improvement to body composition was also seen with the majority of candidates with a reduction of fat mass between 0.3 kg to 4 kg.
- Minimal weight change was seen between 1 kg and 3 kg loss/gain.
- No serious adverse effects were seen.
Conclusion:
This study shows the efficacy and safety of the Multiwell system as a non-invasive method for reducing fat and improving the appearance of cellulite. Multiple treatments combined with appropriate patient and treatment area selection could produce dramatic improvements to body contour.
